Small Wedding at C View at the One Mile North Hotel

Monday, April 22nd, 2013

This past week we got a call from the ladies at Michelle Durpetti Events requesting florals for a small wedding they were planning in two days. You read that right… in two days! Here is a sneak peak at the bride’s bouquet.

Chicago Opera Theatre at Carnivale Restaurant

Thursday, April 12th, 2012

Last month the Chicago Opera Theatre had their annual fundraiser at Carnivale Restaurant. We were tapped by Michelle Durpetti Events to provide florals for the event.  If you’ve ever visited Carnivale it’s a latin fusion restaurant with a vibrant and fun mix of colors.  From the walls, to the artwork it is a blend of bright colors. With that in mind we created two tablescapes utilizing containers and vases within MDE’s in house collection.

Our first tablescape included a hurricane vase with a trio of pillar candles and loose mokara orchid blooms.

Our second tablescape included a monochromatic trio of deep purple stock, hot pink mokara orchids and red tulips.

Thank you to Carasco Photography for sharing these pictures and to Michelle Durpetti Events for letting us be part of the event.

Gene & Georgetti’s Movie Premiere

Friday, February 17th, 2012

Chicago’s Gene & Georgetti Restaurant hosted a grand event last month to premiere their movie…celebrating 70 years of great food and welcoming their customers with open arms.

The event at the Park West Theatre was nothing but spectacular!  Complete with a red carpet, step-and-repeat… and that was just the beginning!

Think confetti cannons by Automated Lighting Design, a choreographed performance from Zzazz Productions; Sway Chicago, a live band performed a few hits from different decades, Brent Rolland from Fig Media kept the dance floor packed, food galore from Phil Stefani Catering, a candy table from Sugar Chic Designs that would make you swoon with delight (in addition to make you forget about that new diet), a birthday cake from Tipsycake and of course, one heck of a movie created by Loudbyte Cinematography. The best way to describe is…It was the hottest ticket in town.

Candy Table Display by Sugar Chic Designs

Michelle Durpetti Events who produced the soiree tapped us to provide florals for the occasion. We created two distinct tablescapes for the cabaret tables and as with all of our clients we selected flowers that reflects them.

Michelle, Emily and Rachel from Michelle Durpetti Events

Our first tablescape included a mound of white anemones with black centers. They are a popular flower these days but many people don’t realize how hard they are to find and how harder it is to keep them from suffering blemishes during transport. We felt these flowers were a great representation of the restaurant. Seventy years in business (in any business) is a hard feat, but to do it well and consistently is a monumental accomplishment.

Our second tablescape included a single cattaleya orchid. If you’ve never seen them, all I can say is that cattaleya orchids are gorgeous with their fluttery petals, but most of all they are grand. They make you happy from looking at them and in their own way it is quite the unique flower. These flowers represent the Durpetti family. If you’ve been lucky enough to meet them they always have a smile, especially Michelle’s mom, Marion. They always welcome you with open arms and a bright smile, no matter who you are.

We created other arrangements for the bars and the stage with old Hollywood in mind, were simple but timeless and beautiful reigned. It was quite the honor to be one of the vendors at this event, especially amongst such a talented team of professionals.

Congratulations to Gene & Georgetti’s, and cheers to 70 more!

Thank you to Carasco Photography for sharing these pictures. You always make me look like an angel without the wings and you capture my designs just as I see them.

Ramona and Scott at the Rookery in Chicago

Monday, January 2nd, 2012

We had the pleasure of working with the ladies from Michelle Durpetti Events for Ramona and Scott’s wedding last year. Their ceremony took place at the St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church and the reception took place at the Rookery in Chicago. Ramona wanted to keep things traditional for the ceremony with lots of white flowers.  We created pew clusters of white casablanca lilies and orchids. For the ceremony, we created two large arrangements of lilies, white stock, white dendobrium orchids and white hydrangeas…. and her one request was that the amount of stems we used were odd numbers. I’m superstitious, so let’s just say I understood her request and happily obliged. Or, as Michelle Durpetti would say….. “it’s a frizzante thing”.

Ramona carried a hand tied bouquet of white lilies, white roses, white freesias, lilies of the valley, white agapanthus and white dendobrium orchids. Scott wore a single white calla and lilies of the valley boutonniere. During our first meeting she mentioned that she really loved flowers with a fragrance to them hence the choices of flowers we selected for her. All known for their light but lovely scents.

The bridesmaids carried colorful bouquets of pink roses, yellow callas, blue iris, orange mokara roses and seeded eucalyptus.

Just as the ceremony was full of white flowers, the reception was full of color. Ramona and Scott wanted a lot of texture and color for the reception flowers. We created low arrangements of pink sorbonne lilies, pink celosia, orange gerbers, orange unique roses, yellow chrysanthemums and little touches of italian ruscus.

Loved the four tiered wedding cake, created by Tipsycake and our cascading white casablanca lilies.

For additional information on this lovely wedding or to learn more about the details, please contact Michelle Durpetti Events. We had a great time working with them and the event was run seamlessly.

Be U Weddings ~ Feature

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

We were delighted to find ourselves featured in Be U Weddings blog yesterday alongside a great team of vendors. This was a fun wedding for a lovely couple… Brannon and Michael who were married at the Union League Club in Chicago this past October. We worked with Michelle Durpetti Events to create this wedding’s decor. We used pane and saffron mokara orchids along with flamed mango calla lilies. The dinner table had rings of fall foliage with orchids, circus roses, and candles. It was a classic fall wedding.

Brannon the bride loves her bulldogs to pieces and asked us to add in a locket with her pets’ pictures to her bridal bouquet. It was a fun twist to the locket detail.

Max’s Post Bar Mitzvah Brunch

Monday, October 24th, 2011

I recently had the pleasure to work with the wonderful ladies at Michelle Durpetti Events to create arrangements in the shape of basketballs for their client Max (or better yet Max’s grandparents) who had a great Post Bar Mitzvah Brunch. Max’s theme was The Chicago Bulls and Basketball.

To read more about this event, please visit Michelle Durpetti Event’s Blog by clicking here

We created orange carnation balls that were made to look like basketballs as centerpieces in addition to mini basketball courts outfitted with mini basketballs because it’s never too early in the morning to shoot some hoops.

Thanks to the ladies at Michelle Durpetti Events for letting us be part of the dream team for this event!
