Blue Wedding at the Chicago Botanic Gardens

Tuesday, June 18th, 2013

Three weeks ago Charlene asked if we could meet with her clients Louis and Kara. Their wedding was just a mere 15 days away and they still hadn’t booked a florist we said… sure why not. We had just completed a beautiful event at the Chicago Botanic Gardens and since it’s amongst our favorite venues we couldn’t wait to go back.  We met with Louis the groom, as Kara was busier than ever and couldn’t really meet with us. But I have to say that Louis did one heck of a job describing exactly what they liked and giving us clear direction on what Kara preferred for her bouquet.  Blue was the color of this wedding and gardenlike with lots of textures and plenty of movement.

Kara carried a handtied bouquet of white peonies, white sweetpeas (a last minute addition by us), light blue scabiosas, white lisianthus, blue muscari (or grape hyacinth) and dusty miller.

Kara and Louis opted for no flowers at their ceremony since they were exchanging vows at the English Walled Gardens and there was plenty of blooms around them. But they wanted lots of flowers for their reception in the McGinley Pavillion. We created two different types of designs. Both designers were low and gardenlike. We used white and blue hydrangea, veronicas, seeded eucalyptus, blue delphiniums, dusty miller and white lisianthus.

Kara and Louis it was a pleasure working with both of you. Thanks to Sweet Chic Events for thinking of us!

Rain or Shine…. They lived happily ever after

Monday, June 17th, 2013

It was pouring rain this past Saturday and Brenna our client wasn’t going to let some rain damper her spirits. She is a true testament of rain or shine you stick it thru with your plan. And although she had a pretty well planned out Plan B something inside her told her to stick it out with her Plan A. So as good vendors that we all are we backed her up and set out in the rain. I loved that her guests cheered her on as she walked down the aisle.

We created a backdrop of blush and ivory draping. One of the many finds from our trip to NYC earlier this year were we found the exact shade of blush fabric to match Brenna’s garden inspired gown.

Brenna congratulations on your wedding! Rain on wedding day is good luck (it rained on my wedding day too) and just as you I went ahead with it too.
