Monday Morning Inspiration

Happy Martin Luther King Day!

It’s a quiet day around here of catching up with proposals and blog posts. We are thinking ahead of our trip in NYC in a couple of months and looking back at some of the designs we created the last time. Getting to meet David Beahm, designing with some talented designers around the US and finding some great wholesalers in NYC was the highlight of 2011.

I leave you with pictures one of my designs as I look forward to my trip to my upcoming trip in March.

Bebe & Michael at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

Bebe and Michael got married last October at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. The weather was outstanding….not too cold and not too hot.  They came to us thru Hilary Schwartz from Estera Events. She planned a beautiful wedding for them at Grand Piazza but the number of guests seem to grow and the wedding had to be moved to the Shedd.

The wedding colors were white, chartreuse green and aubergine. Given the numbers of guests Bebe and Michael wanted to reuse as much of the flowers as possible. We came up with the idea of creating oversized bridesmaids bouquets that we could use as centerpieces after the ceremony. We added lots of candles, hydrangeas and with the aubergine tablecloths selected by the couple we were able to create a romantic atmosphere at the Shedd.

Bebe carried a beautiful bouquet of garden roses, white cymbidiums, white callas and spray roses.

The bridesmaids carried a bouquet of green hydrangeas, purple callas and green cymbidiums.

We created three different centerpieces were a mix of candle collections, white hydrangeas and repurposing the bridesmaids bouquets.

Congratulations Bebe & Michael!

Love at Breathtaking Heights 2012

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

We had a great time this past Friday at the Metropolitan Club’s Love at Breathtaking Heights Bridal Show. We met with so many wonderful couples looking to plan their wedding this year.

We created a small mercury glass tablescape of Caramel Antique Roses, Pink Garden Roses, Privet Berries, Dusty Miller and Queen Anne’s Lace.

We also created these little green kermit mums balls for our friend Peggy Lambert from Erickson Design. Couples loved them.

New Vendor Alert ~ Solemates

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

While at the love at Breathtaking Heights Bridal Show this past Friday we met a wonderful vendor with a clever idea for weddings. Solemates, provides a vending machine dispensing cute flats the ladies can change into in lieu of their high heels. After a couple of hours of dancing I can see how this would be a gold mine for your friends.

The company provides two options…. you can rent the machine and your guests can pay for the flats OR you can rent the vending machine and provide the flats complementary. The footwear comes in three different colors: silver, gold or black. You can even personalize them with a wedding monogram.

Ramona and Scott at the Rookery in Chicago

Monday, January 2nd, 2012

We had the pleasure of working with the ladies from Michelle Durpetti Events for Ramona and Scott’s wedding last year. Their ceremony took place at the St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church and the reception took place at the Rookery in Chicago. Ramona wanted to keep things traditional for the ceremony with lots of white flowers.  We created pew clusters of white casablanca lilies and orchids. For the ceremony, we created two large arrangements of lilies, white stock, white dendobrium orchids and white hydrangeas…. and her one request was that the amount of stems we used were odd numbers. I’m superstitious, so let’s just say I understood her request and happily obliged. Or, as Michelle Durpetti would say….. “it’s a frizzante thing”.

Ramona carried a hand tied bouquet of white lilies, white roses, white freesias, lilies of the valley, white agapanthus and white dendobrium orchids. Scott wore a single white calla and lilies of the valley boutonniere. During our first meeting she mentioned that she really loved flowers with a fragrance to them hence the choices of flowers we selected for her. All known for their light but lovely scents.

The bridesmaids carried colorful bouquets of pink roses, yellow callas, blue iris, orange mokara roses and seeded eucalyptus.

Just as the ceremony was full of white flowers, the reception was full of color. Ramona and Scott wanted a lot of texture and color for the reception flowers. We created low arrangements of pink sorbonne lilies, pink celosia, orange gerbers, orange unique roses, yellow chrysanthemums and little touches of italian ruscus.

Loved the four tiered wedding cake, created by Tipsycake and our cascading white casablanca lilies.

For additional information on this lovely wedding or to learn more about the details, please contact Michelle Durpetti Events. We had a great time working with them and the event was run seamlessly.
