Real Wedding ~ Vanessa and Michael

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Vanessa and Mike tied the knot at the Ivy Room in Chicago on a beautiful summer day this past August. The best way to describe her is she is a burst of energy who has a great attitude towards… just about everything. So when she told me she was willing to take risks with colors, go for just about anything different and ready to push the envelope at every turn I said “I’m in”.

Limelight Catering catered the event with a fusion between Caribbean and Lebanese food to reflect her family’s background. The amazing Berkley from Heffernan Morgan designed all decor and our lounge space. Look at Vanessa’s beautiful bouquet!

Mark from Entertainment Media Management kept the dance floor packed til 1AM. But this crowd wasn’t about to let the party end at 1AM. Oh no, they kept on going til 5! And of course, we had a great time.

Bridal Consignment

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Yesterday I talked about trunk shows and why it’s a good idea to visit the bridal salons when these are taking place. Today, I’m going to talk about consignment of bridal dresses.

Are you loving the Vera Wang dress from their last bridal collection? But the price… hmm, not so much. There is a great bridal consignment store in Chicago called White Chicago. Owned by Urzula Guyer and Stacy Sanachaelle, who on their quest for the perfect bridal gown for their own weddings decided that “bridal style shouldn’t have to be sacrificed for price”. White Chicago is THE bridal consignment boutique in Chicago. They have bridal designer gowns at a fraction of the retail price. Their inventory consists of samples, overcuts and “once-wed, share the love” gowns. You can visit their website and learn more about their boutique OR you can visit their online store at

And Congrats to Stacy on her new baby boy!

Bridal Trunk Shows and What to Expect…

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

What do I expect at a bridal trunk show and why should I go? This is the quick answer to this question is… Most bridal salons don’t carry every single dress in every designer’s collection, hence the reason why you attend a bridal trunk show. A representative for the designer will bring every single gown in the designer’s collection to the trunk show. You will be able to try all the gowns, and two little unknown facts… you can make small alterations to the gown (with approval from the designer) and also get a discount on the gown. And these two only apply during a trunk show.

To find trunk shows in Chicago all you have to do is check out the designer that you like and usually listed on their website are the dates they will visit Chicago. Some of my favorites are Amsale, Vera Wang, Oscar de la Renta and Monique Lhuillier. And of course a great brand is Watters Brides who do beautiful designs for the  ”Recessionista” bride.

Still looking for that big name designer gown but not so in love with the price? Tomorrow I will give you some tips on where to find these bridal designs in the city of Chicago at a great price.

Welcome to my blog!

It’s a new day, it’s a brand new Exquisite Weddings website and I’m finally ready to start blogging.

I will be blogging about one of my favorite topics… weddings.

I will be talking about the newest venues in Chicago, new and unique ideas in food, decor and floral. I will also explain wedding traditions in depth (yes, there is a reason a bride wears white and carries a bouquet of flowers). I will show you a back-of-the-house look at how we plan a wedding from start to finish and show you the final product with pictures and interviews of the vendors and clients. And of course, I will be answering your wedding planning questions.

I hope you enjoy it and learn everything about weddings.
